Self-confidence is an important ingredient in creating a successful life, and it’s a quality that everyone admires.  Unfortunately though many people struggle to find it which can significantly impact how successful they are.  So what can you do if you’re feeling nervous a little too often, or would like to stop fumbling and instead project a confident image to those around you?  Here are 5 steps to help increase your self-confidence…

Don’t Let Low Self-Confidence Hold You Back

Follow these 5 steps to increase your self-confidence and start achieving the results you want in your personal and professional life: –

1.  Reality Check

Sometimes we lose sight of our achievements and strengths because we’re constantly striving for bigger and better things.  In order to build confidence it’s important to recognise the positive things you’ve achieved so far.  Spend some time reflecting on your strengths, and if you find that challenging consider what your friends or family would say your strengths and achievements are (or better still, ask them – it’ll give you a nice boost!).

2.  Get Some Direction

Setting and achieving goals is a key part in boosting self-confidence so the next step is to think about what you want to achieve in your career and personal life, and then set yourself achievable goals that exploit your strengths.  Success breeds success so start off taking small steps towards your goals so that you can control any challenges you might face along the way.

3.  Get The Right Building Blocks

Once you’ve identified your goals it’s important to recognise the skills you need to achieve them and make sure you have a clear plan to acquire those skills asap.  There are a myriad of courses and programs available, so make sure you find a solution that fully equips you with the building blocks you need to achieve your goals and where you’ll be supported and inspired.

4.  Manage Your Mind

Put simply, you need to stay on top of positive thinking and learn to handle failure, realising that mistakes happen which are purely learning experiences that you can move on from.  Make sure that you celebrate your successes along the way – it’ll help keep you focused on the progress you’re making rather than any setbacks you might be experiencing.

5.  Pick Up Speed

By this stage your self-confidence will already be building.  Now its time to start making your goals a little bit bigger to stretch and challenge yourself, ensuring you’re focusing on closely related areas to build your confidence even further.  Keep yourself grounded though – making your goals too big can become overwhelming and stop you in your tracks.
