Are you 100% happy and successful in every area of your life? Or is there something you want to achieve but just can’t seem to get there? If you feel like you’re continually struggling to reach a particular goal then it’s time to change your way of thinking before the men in white coats come to take you away…
I’m not suggesting it’s time to join the asylum however I’m sure you’ve heard the definition of insanity before and it’s important to keep this in mind when you’re battling to achieve a particular goal.
Let’s take the example of sales people in the current economic climate. If you’re responsible for generating revenue in your job you might be finding it more difficult to reach your targets since the financial markets took a turn for the worse. I know at lot of Recruiters at the moment are battling to keep their heads above water and the change in the way people are now spending money is a challenge for most people in business. So what’s the secret to staying afloat?
Put simply you have to think differently. If you’re not getting the results you want, right now, but you’re still following the same old strategy you’ve been using time and time again you’re running the risk of falling into the ‘insane’ category. Remember, the definition of insanity is ‘doing the same thing and expecting a different result’.
If you’re not getting where you want to be – whether it’s in sales, weight loss, financial freedom, relationships… the list goes on – you must be willing to do something that you’re not currently doing, and importantly you must change your way of thinking.
Too many people want different results in life but they’re not willing to change the way they think which ultimately generates the outcomes they’re experiencing. So if you’re in debt for example, you can get a budget planner and see a financial advisor but if you don’t change the way you think about money you will always struggle to achieve financial freedom because your way of thinking has a direct impact on the results you achieve.
A quick way to check out the associations you have with your goals and how your thinking may be holding you back is to follow this little exercise:-
Once you start to change the associations you have with a particular goal or issue in your life you allow your mind to explore new ways of thinking which will creatively enhance the actions that you take, and therefore the results you experience.
So I invite you now to commit to changing the way you think about the challenges you currently have in your life right now, and to allow your mind to explore new ways to achieve your goals. Say goodbye to the asylum and start enjoying different results in your life today!
