3 Sure-Fire Steps To Get What You Want

Asking is one of the most effective yet  underutilised strategies available to us, and it’s amazing how often people choose to struggle on instead of simply asking for what they want.  If you’ve got at least one goal in life that you’d really like to achieve, I’ve got 3 steps to help you get there quicker…

Simple But Oh-So-Effective

From my experience it’s normally a fear of rejection or the worry of looking needy and feeling awkward that stops most people asking for what they want.  It doesn’t generally matter what assistance is required – money, time, support – it’s purely the ‘asking’ bit that freaks most of us out.

The ridiculous thing is though that by NOT asking you’re already accepting rejection, and even if the worst did happen and someone said no to you, you’re still no worse off than you were before you asked!

Asking for what you want can truly open doors that you hadn’t thought possible.  Instead of struggling to achieve your goals, or spending years pursuing your dreams, in some cases a simple request can transform your life almost immediately.  So if you want to get ahead in your personal or professional life here are 3 simple steps to help you get started today:-

1.  Be Smart

Make sure you’re asking someone who can actually give you what you want.  It sounds obvious, but if you pluck up the courage to ask someone for something and the actually can’t deliver then it’s not the asking that was at fault, it’s the strategy!  Unfortunately if you play this doomed scenario out enough times it might be enough to put you off asking for good.  So think about who you’re extending a request to and do as much as you can to ensure that they’re an appropriate person to ask before you go in for the kill!

2.  Have High Expectations

Don’t go into a request with your head down, expecting to hear no – with that attitude you’re doomed from the start!  Whenever you ask for something have a positive expectation.  With this mindset your approach will be different on ALL levels – your attitude, body language and communication will match the outcome you’re looking for and increase your chances no end!

3.  Be Clear

It’s imperative that when you ask for help you’re 100% clear on what assistance you’re looking for.  Be very specific with your request otherwise the help you get might not match what you’re expectations or needs.

Finally, remember that rejection is part and parcel of life. You’re never going to be able to avoid it completely, but if you can use it as a strategy to propel you forward and to keep asking until you get to ‘yes’ then you’re on a guaranteed track to success.

If you could ask for anything from anyone, what would it be? Post a comment below and let me know!

One Response to 3 Sure-Fire Steps To Get What You Want

  1. Yep Faye I’d have to agree with you that you can get what you want just by asking if the person you’re asking is qualified. I once had a friend that was a salesman of sorts helping me with my brick and mortar business and he used to tell me always ask for the moon because you can ask for less later.

So I ask you this…. How can I avoid information overload as I am having such a hard time with it in my quest for an equitable primary online system, and not getting much else done with my current endeavours ?
