Why The Grass Is Greener

Have you ever found yourself wishing you were doing someone else’s job or living a part of their life instead of your own?  If you’ve been dreaming of greener pastures but don’t know how to find them, the good news is that the answer’s a lot closer to your front door than you probably think!

Sprinkle

Yes, the grass might be greener elsewhere, and if you’re not loving your career or personal life right now you might be feeling as though things are looking a little dry and barren at the moment.

But as any good gardener will tell you, the secret to a lush lawn is lots of water and food.  And the same goes for your personal and professional life.

If you do nothing whilst your neighbour gives their backyard regular TLC, your outlook will continue to nosedive whilst their vista gets more and more lush!  However, if you take the time to give your lawn even just a little spritz of water, your view will improve.  It’s as simple as that.

The grass really is greener where you water it, but how can you start watering areas of your life that you want to change?  Start by answering these 3 easy questions: –

  1. What do you want to change? Consider your career, finances, relationships, health & well-being
  2. How have you neglected that area? Be honest so that you don’t make the same mistake again
  3. What’s one small thing you can do this week to give that area a well-deserved boost? Choose a simple, easy to tackle action that gets you off the starting blocks

Don’t over-complicate things by trying to jump from a sad patch of yellow grass to an award-winning lush lawn – it’s unrealistic and can be overwhelming.  Instead, imagine that the changes you need to make are a collection of small watering cans full of water, and all lined up in a row ready to give your  backyard a nightly thirst quencher!

Break down your ultimate goal into small, manageable actions that together will help build the greener pastures you’ve been hoping for.  Then feed your goal with consistency and commitment, and in no time you’ll be the envy of your neighbours!
