How To Reap Big Rewards From Starting Over

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to start an area of your life over again but with the knowledge and insights you’ve learned so far?  When I was at the gym on Monday I noticed a poster promoting some new exercise classes, and one of them said ‘This Could Be Day One”.  It got me thinking about what I would do differently if I were to start over again and my answers surprised me…

Start Over

Forget going back to day one of your first job, date or diet – until the tardis becomes a reality we’re ‘stuck’ in the here and now!  But what if you could approach your current situation with the fresh mind and openness that comes with being on ‘day one’ of a new experience?   What would you do differently?

Imagine starting your career now, knowing what you know already.   Would you stay on the same path or would you choose a different career entirely?  And if you did stay on the same path, what could you teach yourself now that would make the road ahead more enjoyable, easier or effective?

Whilst you can’t change what’s already happened in life, looking at it with ‘new’ eyes and letting yourself imagine what the future could look like if you took on board what you’ve learned, can make a massive difference to your ‘now’.

So what would you do differently?:-

  • Business: Would you motivate yourself to do more marketing calls or get expert advice in to help you build your business?
  • Career: Would you make a career plan or find out how to get into an industry you’ve always been interested in?
  • Health: Would you exercise more regularly or start learning to cook healthier food?

Whatever your answers, take on board what you ‘would’ do and start doing it.  Hindsight is a great thing but a lost opportunity and a complete waste when you don’t put it to good use.

So what am I going to do? I’m going to launch two new business ideas this month that I’ve been putting off for a while.   Looking at the ideas I’ve had with fresh eyes and making the most of hindsight, I know I’m procrastinating over a fear of failure, and if I take the bull the horns and just do it, I’ll reap the rewards sooner rather than having regrets and ‘what if’s’ later.

What are you doing to do?  Post a comment below and let me know…
