Picture this, gorgeous house, fantastic partner, the champagne is flowing, you’re living your dream, life is spontaneous, playful, it is bliss! Then one day the clouds come rolling in. Your world as you know it starts to crash around you and realise that you actually have nothing in common with this person.
The Compatibility Test For Couples & Singles
You no longer have the electric feelings, similar dreams….or what you once found cute suddenly becomes annoying. All you want to do is get away and find yourself again. What happened? The honey moon is over! Are you destined to be single forever?
The scenario above sounds familiar to most of us, but why does it happen?
It tends to occur when we begin dating an “opposite.” When a relationship commences solely on physical attraction, it doesn’t leave a very strong foundation for a long term relationship.
Sexual theorists claim that judgments based on immediate physical attraction are likely to contribute to high divorce rates. While the whole concept of “opposites attract” is both exciting and exhilarating, once the honeymoon is over, we begin to wonder what it was in the first place that we were once attracted to.
Dr Glen Wilson, a leading relationship psychologist at the London Institute of Psychiatry and former colleague of the Inventor of the IQ test, Hans Eysechk, became aware of this pattern and developed the CQ, (Compatibility Quotient).
“The CQ gives couples the opportunity to test their compatibility before getting too involved in a relationship”, Dr Wilson explains. The CQ test is based on 30 factors that cause relationship discontent once the honeymoon period is over. These include to attitudes to money, family values, food preferences, religion, lifestyle, smoking, drinking, education levels ,social status, sexual experience and TV programs.
It has been found couples that share a similar lifestyle and enjoy the same TV programs are three times more likely to stay together. Women are eight times happier if they have similar views to pornography as their partners and 60% more likely to stay together with a partner with similar political views.
Birds of a feather flock together. Sharing similar values allows you to develop a deeper, more meaningful relationship and you are more likely to become best friends rather than the high probability turmoil of opposites.
Women naturally are attracted to compatible men with a focus on intellect, whereas men tend to place a large importance on physical attraction. The CQ is a great ice-breaker as both sexes are aware of the common background and values.
