How 5 Simple Steps Saved Me From Overwhelm

Do you ever have those days when you feel overwhelmed by all the stuff
you've gotta do, tired at the prospect of doing it all and then find
yourself stuck doing nothing because you don't know where to start?...
The Secret To Stopping Stuckness
It's great to be cheered on to get bigger and better results, but as a
Coach I am acutely aware that being pushed and pushed to do more isn't
always the best approach, and that occasionally we simply need some
downtime to reflect and recharge.
Balance is important to everyone - it's great to accelerate through
life and to reach your goals and aspirations, but if you set yourself
up in a way that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and tired it's time to
give yourself a break.
So next time you feel overwhelmed try this approach to get yourself back on track: -
- Stop - Don't do anything else, simply stop where you are
- Reflect - Take a moment to notice how you're feeling and what you were doing to get yourself to the point of overwhelm
- Time Out
- This is the critical step where it's time to go and do something
completely different: visit the gym, go for a walk, meet some friends
... whatever it is for you, it needs to be far removed from what you
were doing when overwhelm kicked in
- Enjoy - This downtime is an opportunity for you to re-energise and refresh your mind so enjoy it and don't rush it!
- Refocus
- Now that you've changed your emotional state and recharged your
batteries you can get back to your task list with a clear and focussed
mind.
Don't feel guilty for taking time out - you'll be amazed how the power
of a clear and re-energised mind will help you accelerate quickly
through the things that had previously left you stuck.
